Throw the pity back where it came from

Find a stone and, using a permanent marker, write the words ‘self-pity’ on it in big bold letters. Then sit in a quiet space with the stone in your hands and imagine sending all of that negative ‘poor me, poor me’ energy from within you into that rock of self-pity – visualize a dark cloud of pity seeping out of you and sealing itself into that rock. Then go to the nearest body of water you can find – the nearest pond, lake or ocean – and throw that stone into the water with as much force, motivation and deliberate intent as you can muster. That dead-weight self-pity will sink to the bottom, and you can rest safe in the knowledge that it can never find its way back to you.
